IBM Security Ideas Portal

Shape the future of IBM Security

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including the product roadmap, by submitting enhancement ideas that matter to you the most.

Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and vote for them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Vote for ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Post an Idea

To post a new idea - click on the "Add a new idea" button and where asked select the appropriate category this idea relates to. Provide requested information to allow us to get a better understanding of your request.

QRadar Community Edition (CE) version 7.5.0 or later

Several users have created support forum requests for an update to QRadar Community Edition (CE) to bring the release up to a newer QRadar version. I discussed this issue with Product Management (PM) and the goal of this Idea is for users to vote up this issue to guage interest in an updated version of QRadar CE 7.5.0+.

I would add one important remark: please, change the current memory barrier available to use with apps to 20% or more. I think it might take the risk of doing this because it looks much easier than to develop App Host CE version.

It would be an excellent idea to create the community 7.5 version for testing or integration that often cannot be carried out in productive environments.

QRadar CE 7.5.0 release would be extremely useful for entire developers community, QRadar App diffusion, certifications, and for cybersecurity analysts trainings.

This would be great. I run a very large 7.5.x environment at work and run CE at home for testing and training outside of work. The CE version is far enough out of date that it is hard say there is parity between what I am testing on my own and what we have in prod.

QR CE 7.5 should be released ASAP! Too many other competitors release CE editions of their products for evaluation purposes. Is IBM prferring to remain the last and lose lot of opportunities? There too many customers that find the 7.3.3 absolutely obsolete version.

I come from Splunk and have been working already 2 years fully with Qradar in my current job.

I see many gaps where IBM is still behind and one of them is the lack of community developed applications and Qradar Engineers. Most of our job applicants are fluent on Splunk, but not on Qradar and its hard to find Qradar engineers. I've realized this is mainly because of the open community Splunk has, same versioning of prod and Community Edition Splunk and good documentation.

If IBM wants to really compete with Splunk for the lead, they need to make this more open for users, self-learners, independent developers, etc.... Having an outdated Community Edition where most current prod applications don't work on CE just kills anyone who wants to get involved with Qradar and actually hurts your own clients trying to find good engineers for Qradar.

I hope this criticism is well received and somehow makes a change of mindset.

Thanks again for your support and help in the community.

+ it is IBM's own interest, that they should release CE with latest version and updated contents, it enables administrators to become more familiar with Qradar features and functions and get the most out of the production deployments.

No question, it needs to be updated.

CE has been invaluable to us in testing various features in a non-production/lab environment. 7.3.3 is too old at this point, please update CE to the latest version and allow users to patch it going forward.

In fact, it was only through the CE that I learned to use Q correctly - including troubleshooting. As a result, I have lost the fear of making changes in my company's productive environment. Another fact is that I hated Q at first - and wanted a different SIEM. But using the CE changed that. How many CE users felt the same? Please, please don't take this value away from the community and give it a version that can also be patched. A security product without updates? That's not very contemporary.

This definitely needs to more frequently be on-par with paid version. It's invaluable as a learning tool.

a new version is desperately needed. OS, App containers, Python, New UI... - almost everything has changed since 7.3.3 was released. Pls come up with an updated CE version for X-Mas!

it will help a lot in developing Qradar Apps. Qradar CE 7.5.0 can be considered as UAT enviroment for our oganization. It's quite risky when try to install developing apps on production Qradar environment.

Free but limited versions of capabilities like this are invaluable as a learning tool. I've brought numerous technologies in to our work environment after evaluating them on my own. The experience with from personal evaluation with competing products helps us recommend the one(s) that fit best in our use case(s).

Would definitely like to see something at or closer to the latest version. I spend a lot of time on the instance of CE spun up in the lab and the widening gap between versions is becoming an issue.

While you're adding the new version please make sure it can be installed on public cloud linux servers
